FCCLA members have been making a difference in their families, careers and communities by addressing important personal, work and societal issues through family and consumer sciences education since 1945. FCCLA use to be known as FHA (Future Homemakers of America) until they changed it to FCCLA in 1999.

Chapter projects focus on a variety of youth concerns. These include teen pregnancy, parenting, family relationships, substance abuse, peer pressure, environment, nutrition and fitness, teen violence and career exploration. Being involved in FCCLA offers members the opportunity to expand their leadership potential and develop skills for life such as planning, goal setting, problem solving, decision making and interpersonal communication necessary in the home and workplace. FCCLA is a great organization to build friendships, leadership skills and make a stand for what's right.

The Mission of FCCLA is to promote personal growth and leadership development through family and consumer sciences education. Focusing on the multiple roles of family member, wage earner and community leader, members develop skills for life through character development, creative and critical thinking, interpersonal communication, practical knowledge and vocational preparation.

All FCCLA officers must be enrolled in the Career and Family Leadership class. The Career and Family Leadership class is a year-long course designed to prepare students for success in their future family, career and community life. This will be accomplished by promoting personal growth and leadership problems that impact the work and family; and practice making decisions that support and strengthen the integration of roles and responsibilities of individuals, families, careers, and community. This course is project based and students will work on several FCCLA projects throughout the year in addition to completing a class portfolio.
